Idee | Konzept: Maricruz Peñaloza

Maricruz Peñaloza ist in Mexiko geboren und aufgewachsen. Sie lebt und arbeitet in Zürich. Sie studierte Politikwissenschaft in Mexiko-Stadt und bildende Kunst in Zürich mit Fokus auf Performance Kunst. Sie ist Künstlerin und Kuratorin für Performance-Festivals und Veranstaltungen. Sie hat an zahlreichen nationalen und internationalen Ausstellungen und Performance-Festivals teilgenommen. Zudem hat sie mehrere Performance- und Kunstveranstaltungen in der Schweiz und im Ausland kuratiert, organisiert und mitorganisiert.

Nicht nur, weil sie eine enge Verbindung zum Park hat, will sie diesen öffentlichen Raum als Plattform zum Handeln und Kommunizieren nutzen, sondern auch, weil sie sich mit der kulturpolitischen Frage des Handelns im öffentlichen Raum beschäftigt. Den öffentlichen Raum durch Performancekunst zu „erleben“ bedeutet eine Interaktion, einen Erfahrungsaustausch und den Zugang zu dieser Kunstdisziplin. Der öffentliche Raum geht weit über die Ästhetik hinaus, er ist ein politischer Raum, der ein Gefühl von Identität und Zugehörigkeit zu seinen Menschen vermittelt und eine städtische Kultur bedeutet. Was ist eigentlich ein öffentlicher Raum?

Maricruz Peñaloza ist seit der Gründung des PANCH-Performance Art Network CH als Mitglied dabei und seit 2019 als Vorstandsmitglied.

Idea | Concept: Maricruz Peñaloza

Maricruz Peñaloza was born and raised in Mexico. She lives and works in Zurich. She studied political science in Mexico City and fine arts in Zurich with a focus on performance art. She is an artist and curator for performance festivals and events. She has participated in numerous exhibitions and performance festivals at both national and international level. She has also curated, organised and co-organised a large number of performance and art events in Switzerland and abroad.

 Not only because she has a close connection to the park, she wants to use this public space as a platform for acting and communicating, but also because she deals with the cultural-political question of acting in public space. ‚Experiencing‘ the public space through performance art means an interaction, an exchange of experiences and access to this art discipline. The public space goes far beyond aesthetics, it is a political space that gives a sense of identity and belonging to its people and means an urban culture. What is actually a public space?

Maricruz Peñaloza has been a member of the PANCH-Performance Art Network CH since its foundation and since 2019 she is also a member of the board.
