13. PERFORMANCE REIHE NEU-OERLIKON 2022 -Move & Continue – Verzerrungen in Zeiten der Dissonanz

Die PERFORMANCE REIHE NEU-OERLIKON ist das Festival, das seit 12 Jahren jedes Jahr im Oerliker Park sowie im Wahlenpark stattfindet. In der 13. Ausgabe steht sie dem Untertitel Move & Continue – Verzerrungen in Zeiten der Dissonanzen. Das Jahr findet unter der Leitung und dem Kuratorium von Gisela Hochuli, Markus Goessi und Maricruz Peñaloza, am Samstag, den 27. August im Oerliker Park in Zürich Nord statt.

Die PERFORMANCE REIHE NEU-OERLIKON ist eine Kunstplattform, die bisher mehr als einhundertsiebzig Künstler*innen aus vielen Ländern diente. Sie wird wieder einen Ort und eine (spezifische) Zeit der Reflexion und des Austauschs schaffen, und in diesen noch, immer bizarren Zeiten, möchten wir dazu Fragen aufwerfen, um damit den Körper als soziales und politisches Territorium zum Ausdruck bringen lassen.

Seit Anfang der 2020er Jahre hat die Einschränkung der Räume, zu einer neuen Gegenüberstellung von privaten und öffentlichen Räumen geführt. Unser Wohnzimmer, unsere Küche, unsere Wohnung sind Räume, die der privaten Sphäre vorbehalten waren und die nun öffentlich geworden sind.

Was ist mit dem öffentlichen Raum? Gerade hier wird das soziale Gefüge wiederhergestellt, das bisher auf die Schnittstelle von Videoanrufen, Zooms usw. reduziert wurde. Bewegen wir uns von der privaten Sphäre in die öffentliche Sphäre ohne unser Wohnzimmer zu verlassen? Oder betritt die öffentliche Sphäre unser Wohnzimmer? Oder kippt es nach den neuesten Gegebenheiten total um und wir ziehen in den öffentlichen Raum? Privater und öffentlicher Raum sind nicht mehr trennbar, sie fliessen ineinander und überschneiden sich. Oder wird unser Leben weiterhin Hybrid bleiben?*

Dies sind Kernfragen der 13. Ausgabe der PERFORMANCE REIHE NEU-OERLIKON. Des Weiteren wird sie sich mit der Frage des Agierens im öffentlichen Räumen auseinandersetzen. Die verschiedenen Begriffe wie Gender, Sexualität, Feminismus, aber auch die Poesie des Körpers werden zu erleben und zu sehen sein, um damit (bestimmte) soziale, politische und kulturelle Phänomene und Probleme zu erkennen und zu thematisieren. Einmal mehr steht das Festival für ein Zusammentreffen verschiedener Medien. War es in der Vergangenheit Performance-Kunst, Musik und Tanz, ist es in dieser Ausgabe neben einem breiten Spektrum von Performance Kunst (Live Art) auch eine Audio-Installation.

Bei dieser Ausgabe finden zehn (10) Live Performances, eine (1) Audio-Installation sowie Künstler*innen-Gespräche statt. Die Künstler*innen-Gespräche werden im Anschluss, nach einem Block von jeweils drei bzw. vier Performances beim Pavillon geführt. Die Durchführung der Gespräche im direkten Anschluss an die Performance-Blöcke bezweckt die Begegnung zwischen den Performance-Kunstschaffenden und dem Publikum sowie die unmittelbare Auseinandersetzung mit dem soeben gesehenen Werk, den künstlerischen Arbeitsprozessen und der Reflexion der Performance Praxis. Dabei sind Künstler*innen aus Bern, Lausanne, Biel, Genf, Luzern, Schottland/Bosnien-Herzegowina, dem Tessin und Zürich. Bestandteile der Performance Reihe sind die intersektionalen und interkulturellen Aspekte aber auch wichtige Anliegen sind es, einerseits bei der Auswahl der Künstler:innen verschiedene Genres zu zeigen die auf den öffentlichen Raum (Oerliker Park) eingehen, andererseits verschiedene bekannte, aber auch weniger bekannte Künstler:innen einzuladen und schliesslich einen Mix aus Generationen und Gendern mit unterschiedlichen kulturellen Hintergründen zu zeigen.

Die PERFORMANCE REIHE NEU-OERLIKON findet bald seit 13 Jahren im Oerliker Park statt, in der Schweiz gibt es kaum kontinuierliche Performance-Veranstaltungen, die sich auf Performances im öffentlichen Raum konzentrieren.

Die 13. PERFORMANCE REIHE NEU OERLIKON 2022 richtet sich in erster Linie an ein Kunst- und Kultur interessiertes Publikum, aber auch an die Einwohner*innen von Neu- und (Alt) Oerlikon, sowie an Gäste und Besucher*innen anderer Teile der Stadt und des Landes.

Es wird kein Eintritt verlangt.

*Wir haben diese Fragen als Leitmotiv für die 13. Ausgabe des Festivals gewählt, ohne zu ahnen, dass in Europa ein Krieg ausbrechen würde, so wie wir auch nicht mit dem Ende einer Pandemie nach mehr als zwei Jahren gerechnet haben. Dennoch bleiben diese Fragen für das Kurator:inennteam gültig, ebenso wie die zentrale Frage der temporären Inanspruchnahme und des Handelns im öffentlichen Raum.

The PERFORMANCE REIHE NEU-OERLIKON is the festival that has taken place every year since 12 years in the Oerliker Park as well as in the Wahlenpark. In its 13th edition, it is subtitled Move & Continue – Distortions in Times of Dissonance. This edition takes place under the direction and curatorship of Gisela Hochuli, Markus Goessi and Maricruz Peñaloza on Saturday 27 August in Oerliker Park in Zurich North.

The PERFORMANCE REIHE NEU-OERLIKON is an art platform that has so far served more than one hundred and seventy artists from many countries. It will again create a place and a (specific) time for reflection and exchange, and in these still, always bizarre times, we would like to address questions in order to allow the body to be expressed as a social and political territory.

At the beginning of the 2020s, the restriction of spaces, has led to a new juxtaposition of private and public spaces. Our living room, our kitchen, our flat are spaces that were reserved for the private sphere, they have become public. What about public space? It is here that the social fabric is restored, previously reduced to the interface of video calls, zooms and so on. Do we move from the private sphere into the public sphere without leaving our living room? Or does the public sphere invade our living room? Or does it totally overturn according to the latest circumstances and we move into the public sphere? Private and public space are no longer separable, they flow into each other and overlap. Or will our lives remain hybrid?*

These are the central questions of the 13th edition of the PERFORMANCE REIHE NEU-OERLIKON. Furthermore, it will deal with the question of acting in public spaces. Various concepts such as gender, sexuality, feminism, but also the poetry of the body will be experienced and seen in order to identify and address (certain) social, political and cultural phenomena and problems. Once again, the festival stands for a meeting of different media. While in the past it was performance art, music and dance, in this edition it is also an audio installation in addition to a broad spectrum of performance art (live art).

This edition will feature ten (10) live performances, one (1) audio installation and artist talks. The artist talks will be held after each block of three and four performances at the pavilion. The talks, which will be held directly after the performance blocks, are intended to encourage encounters between the performance artists and the audience as well as a direct discussion of the work that has just been seen, the artistic working processes and reflection on the performance practice. Artists from Bern, Lausanne, Biel, Geneva, Lucerne, Scotland/Bosnia-Herzegovina, Ticino and Zurich are taking part. The festival’s components are the intersectional and intercultural aspects, but also important concerns are, on the one hand, to show different genres in the selection of artists that respond to the public space (Oerliker Park), on the other hand, to invite different well-known, but also less well-known artists, and finally, to show a mix of generations and genders with different cultural backgrounds.

The PERFORMANCE REIHE NEU-OERLIKON will soon be taking place in Oerliker Park for the 13th consecutive year. There are hardly any continuous performance festivals in Switzerland that focus on performances in public spaces.

The 13th PERFORMANCE REIHE NEU OERLIKON 2022 is primarily aimed at an audience interested in art and culture, but also at the residents of Neu-Oerlikon and Oerlikon, as well as guests and visitors from other parts of the city and the country.

No admission fee is charged.

*We have chosen these questions as the leitmotif for the 13th edition of the festival without suspecting that a war would break out in Europe, just as we did not expect a pandemic to end after more than two years. Nevertheless, these questions remain valid for the team of curators, as does the central question of temporary occupation and action in public space.
